Last Days of Summer

Imogen will be in 4th grade, Margo in 1st starting this Wednesday, August 20.

The end of summer is a sad time. There is always another summer but next summer the kids will be older and less “ours” and more “their own” and that is good but that is also sad, so I am sad about it. I have loved having little kids—and there is plenty of little left—but the sun is setting and I know this.

Imogen starts 4/5th grades which means she will mingle with bigger kids and I expect she will work to catch up to the maturity level in short order, days even. Watching her play dolls with Margo was especially sweet given that realization. To think, I almost missed it because I got a text, needed to check a notification or some shit like that.

Phones and technology will continue to be a problem here and I don’t think we are up to handling it yet. I hope to start collecting articles and resources so we can do our best to all adapt to our best lives, finding the right balance of using this dominating tech to our benefit.

A photo from yesterday (I have a “Family photo” they requested and a video as well on my phone).

A photo of Imogen caring for Margo a few days ago when Margo was under the weather.
